To cultivate, promote and engage in the arts

Literary Contest

RFAS has decided to NOT host this year’s traditional contest as we to take time to evaluate the contest fully and determine how we can adjust the competition to make it more relevant to today’s high school curriculum. We will accomplish this through surveys and in-person meetings with teachers and administrators.

Our goal with the Literary Contest has always been to inspire young adults to write creatively, as it is an important tool for improving self-expression and communication skills. We also want to support teachers’ efforts in the classroom. Although it was a difficult decision to pause the competition this year, we determined that taking time to evaluate and revamp the Literary Contest will give us the best chance for long-term success and support.

WORKSHOP OPPORUNITIES

We look forward to announcing a reimagined project that will include other genres, such as poetry and personal essays, as well as offering afterschool workshop opportunities with professional writers. If your high school is interested in learning more about the workshop opportunities, please contact Margaret Dickson at mhdickson@gmail.com

Thank you to all who participated in the 2021-2022 contest! Please check out the winners and be on the lookout for next year's dates in August!
